A Prayer For An Eternal Perspective

Jesus, my load becomes lighter as I consider that the ongoing toil and labor of this life is only for a season. The daily struggle of meeting deadlines, employee relations, putting out fires, pleasing customers and bosses can be overwhelming and very frustrating, let alone the growing pile of dirty clothes that awaits me at home. Though I’ve asked for Your divine intervention many times some of these recurring irritants will not go away in my life’s work. May the sufficient grace of Your Holy Spirit grant me an enduring and victorious attitude even in the midst of these toilsome labors. Remind me again that Your blessings far outnumber the troubles of this day and that divine rest is promised to those who are faithful to the end. In Your name, Jesus, I pray. Amen.

A Prayer For Faithfulness In Witness

Father, lay upon our hearts the unquenchable desire to pass on to others the important truths we received from reliable followers of Christ and from our own study of Your Holy Word. Help us not to relegate our duties to others, but take up our responsibility as we link together with other believers all over the globe transmitting Your timeless, life-changing truths to those who have ears to hear. Amen.

A Prayer Of Hope

Father, help us not to resent the storms of life or be fearful of their effects. Much like we prepare for a ravaging storm by anchoring valuables to a firm foundation, help us to anchor our hearts in the firm foundation of Your Word that will help us to withstand the testings and trials of life that are certain to come our way. Even as a ship is proven to be seaworthy over its lifetime, may our faith be proven trustworthy as we hold onto You, the Anchor for our soul. Amen.

A Prayer Of Thanks For God’s Goodness

Loving Father , we thrive on Your gracious and compassionate ways, your slowness to anger and Your abounding love. You satisfy our desires with good things and do not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. In Your goodness and mercy You remove our sins from us, as far as the east is from the west. We give thanks to You, our Father, for You are good and Your love endures forever. Amen.

A Prayer For Spiritual Growth

Father, we want to grow in the grace and knowledge imparted to us through the teachings of Jesus and Your faithful servants who were inspired by the Holy Spirit. We know this involves much more than simply reading the Scriptures, but it includes meditating and memorizing principles and portions of the inspired text. It includes saying no to ungodliness and worldly passions and living self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age. As our world continues the slide into decadence and self-indulgence, it means that we, with great intention, set our heart’s desires on that which is pure and holy so that we grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in whose name we pray. Amen.

A Prayer For Standing Firm In The Faith

Father we desire to abound in good works, all the while making Your grace and love known to people all over this world. In ourselves we are frail and lack in so many ways, but in You we are able to overcome the evil one and take a stand against his schemes. Sometimes the daily battles leave us feeling a bit disheartened, weary, and even wounded at times. But we thank You for the presence of Your abiding Holy Spirit who encourages us and leads us forward in this daily conflict. Help us to praise You and trust You for the victory as the hymn says, Hell’s foundations quiver at the shout of praise; brothers, lift your voices, loud your anthems raise. We raise to You our anthems of praise and our prayers of thanksgiving through Jesus our Lord. Amen.

A Prayer For National Renewal

Father we want to live above the fray of this world as a people of righteousness set apart for Your purpose. We forsake the things of this world that bring disgrace to Your holy name and live for the purpose of bringing glory, honor and praise to You, our Father. We pray for our nation, for the turning away from our sins and turning toward the abundant life we find in Christ our Lord. You’ve called us to repentance and to share the good news of salvation to all who are lost. Help our pulpits to be aflame with righteousness. Help us to seek a fresh calling upon our lives to be obedient in this commission from Scripture. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

A Prayer For Grace

Father it is not Your will that any should perish but that all would come to repentance. Yet You don’t force us to follow Your prescribed plan, but give us a free will to come willingly, lovingly, obediently, and gratefully as we come to realize that there is none like You. No one else could touch our hearts like You do, grant us peace that is eternal and prepare a home for us to last for all eternity. We don’t presume upon Your grace, but we do receive it by faith with thanksgiving. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

A Prayer For Salvation

Here’s a common prayer that expresses faith in God’s plan of salvation through Jesus Christ. If you have not done so already, I urge you to pray this prayer from your heart today. Lord Jesus, I confess that I am a lost sinner. I believe that You came to this earth to seek and to save that which was lost and You died on the cross as a substitute for me and my sin. I place my faith in You and what You have done for me. Forgive me of my sins and cleanse me from unrighteousness. I receive You into my life and choose this day to follow You and serve You all the days of my life. Thank You for hearing my prayer.

A Prayer For Godly Priorities

Father You have shown the greatest example of what it is to be rich toward us in countless ways, but most especially when You gave Your only Son to be our Savior. You extended to us full forgiveness when we could do nothing to earn it. May we likewise be rich toward You giving ourselves fully in love, obedience, in our resources, and in loving others as we love ourselves. Rather than seeking first a comfortable and secure life here on earth, help us to remember that will come to us in heaven. Instead help us to seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness and all that is needed will be given to us by Your gracious hand. We thank You for it in Jesus’ name. Amen.
