A Prayer Of Thanks For Freedom

Father, how glorious it is to enjoy the many freedoms provided to us in our homeland of the brave and the free. We’re also mindful and grateful for our freedom from sin, thanks to the sacrifice of Your Son on our behalf. Our lives, once enslaved to sin, can now enjoy freedom from that which once held us captive to Satan’s bondage. We live in victory because You have set us free and we are now free indeed. Thank You, Father, for delivering us from the dominion of darkness and transferring us into the kingdom of Your Son in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sin! Amen.

A Prayer For The Secret Place

Father, there is much that troubles us these days as evildoing changes our landscape and our personal lives. It grows distrust in our hearts toward others and at times distrust in our heart toward the way You deal with these matters. We believe Your power is far greater than the enemy and yet the enemy is flourishing. Bring us into the secret place where Your Spirit reveals to us that which the world cannot give or take away. Help us to come to the place where we too can speak the words of Asaph after meeting with You, “Whom have I heaven but You, and besides You there is nothing I desire.” It is through the name of Jesus that we come to You in prayer and commit these matters to You. Amen.

A Prayer For Those Not Of This World

Father, we know that pursuing friendship with the world puts us at enmity with You. The world which we inhabit is perishable and sin-based, while the heaven we pursue is imperishable and free of sin. Help us, in the daily choices we make, to keep pressing on the upward way, gaining new heights in our Christian walk, as we stretch toward the goal of the prize of the high calling we have in Christ Jesus, in whose name we pray. Amen.

A Prayer Of Thanks For Our Daily Bread

Father, in the same way that we grow hungry before mealtime, stir up a hunger within us for the spiritual food You provide through the living Word of God. Jesus, the Bread of Life provides physically and spiritually for our daily needs. Following a hearty meal we often linger around the dinner table considering the tastiness of our meal. When we “taste and see that the Lord is good” we want to linger in Your presence and consider Your goodness, offering praise to You for all that You are and all that You provide for us. Bread of Heaven feed, us until we are truly satisfied and filled with all the good things that come from You. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

A Prayer For A Teachable Spirit

Father, we want to be used of You to bless others and encourage them in their spiritual walk. Help us to be sensitive to Your Spirit’s leading when there are words of guidance, caution or even correction that we are to share with our brother or sister. Help us to be careful messengers of Your truth, grace, and reproof. Help us also to be grateful recipients when You use other godly messengers to speak to us about matters which we ignore, misuse, or are blinded to. May we all do our part in building up the body for which Christ gave His life. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

A Prayer For A Purpose-filled Life

Your purpose in my life, Lord, is seen in a multitude of ways; whether it is in my vocational training; in the way I raise my children; in the relationships I engender or in the way I use my gifts to touch other lives. But Your purpose in my life is most visible to others in my response to heartache, betrayal, disappointment, suffering, and loss. Your purpose can be seen when I choose not to repay evil for evil, but rather good for evil. Lord, as I keep Your purpose for my life always before me I will remember that much good spiritual fruit can be developed in me in the ups and downs I encounter daily. May I be faithful in making choices today that reflect Your purpose in my life. Amen.

A Prayer For Joy In Work

Father, we find pleasure and fulfillment in our work when we work at it heartily, as for You, primarily. We thank You for giving us the wherewithal to provide an income for our family where our financial needs are met. Certainly each workplace has its challenges, but as we look to You for strength, endurance and wisdom to deal with those challenges we find joy, thanksgiving, and fulfillment in our work. May others see heaven sent joy flow from our lives as we spread mutual respect and a strong work ethic in the workplace. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

A Prayer For Heritage Builders

Father, You have called on us, Your children, to be reliable in giving a solid witness of our faith in You. We are to live godly lives so that we faithfully model that which we also teach to our children and all whom we are privileged to influence. We realize that there is no neutral position; we either live for You or we live for the world. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus as we journey below so that we fulfill the calling to be faithful and influence others for the kingdom of God. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

A Prayer For Resisting Evil

Father, we ask for clean hands, a pure mind, and a steadfast heart that follows hard after You. Temptation regularly knocks at our door, but with Your Holy Spirit residing within, we have the will and desire to turn it away. We don’t want even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, or anything considered improper for Your holy people. It is through Christ that we can live a life above reproach that daily seeks to honor You and influence others for Your kingdom. Amen.

A Prayer To The One Who Is Forever Faithful

Eternal Father, everything we see or touch with our hands has a shelf life and eventually wears out or is destroyed. Our family members and the people we hold dear to our hearts in time also depart from our lives. But when we contemplate thoughts of eternity we are filled with inexhaustible praise as we consider that You, O Lord, reign forever. Of your kingdom there will be no end. We’ll gather with our dear brothers and sisters from all over the world, from every tribe, tongue and nation to exalt the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ. There will no longer be the separation due to distance, combat, culture, or language but we will be one mighty chorus singing heavenly praises to our faithful Father whose divine kingdom has no end. At that appointed hour, upon seeing You face to face, we will declare together with all the saints and heavenly hosts, “Forever You are faithful!” In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
