Father, as we fully surrender our hearts to You we will no longer conform to the pattern of this world, but we will be transformed because our minds are being renewed by Your Spirit daily. Though we may be rejected by the world we have been chosen by You. Like living stones You are building us into a spiritual house where Jesus is the precious cornerstone. Because of that we are a strong foundation that can withstand the forces of evil as we declare the praises of Him who called us out of darkness and enables us to live as aliens and strangers in this evil world as we abstain from sinful desires. Amen.

A Prayer For Our Words
Father, we join with the Psalmist and pray that the words of our mouth and the meditation of our hearts is pleasing and acceptable in Your sight, O Lord our strength and our Redeemer. Jesus warns us that a good person brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, for the mouth speaks what the heart is full of. That which is in our hearts will greatly influence that which we speak or the way we act. If our hearts are focused on pure and godly things, our words and actions will reflect that. But when our hearts are full of folly and self, it will be revealed in our words and actions. Help us to be quick to repent and take necessary steps to cleanse ourselves of sin so that we are pleasing to You which is far more valuable and beneficial than trying to conceal a sin. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
A Prayer For Attentiveness To God’s Truth
Father, Your truths do not fluctuate nor are they subject to reinterpretation by the changing philosophies of our day. Your truths are explained through the inspiration of Your Holy Word and understanding given to us by Your Holy Spirit. May our ears be open to hear and our eyes focused to see that Your eternal truths are the same yesterday, today and forever and the truths which You speak, You speak in love to all who choose to hear. We want to find favor with You by turning from our sins and giving attention to Your truth. Amen.
A Prayer For A Heart Of Obedience
Father, You have a work for all of us to do, we, who claim to be Your followers. Sometimes it’s going, sometimes it’s doing, and sometimes it’s just making ourselves available to Your leading. However You choose to use us, it requires our faith and trust to be firmly rooted in who You are, in Your commands, and in our hearing Your voice, most especially in uncharted territory when we are asked to step out of our comfort zone. Help us to be among those with whom You could say to Your Son, Jesus, “This is my child with whom I am very pleased.” Your commendation is our incentive to be listening, obeying and trusting in You as we journey here below. Amen.
A Prayer For Properly Placed Trust
Father, there are so many people and things in which we can place our trust. To a certain degree it is imperative that we do so, but when our hope is misplaced or is out of balance with the teachings of Scripture we find ourselves disillusioned, disappointed and desperate for your divine intervention. During this election year we look to You for guidance and we ask that You would raise up political leaders who will seek Your counsel, pray without ceasing while resisting special interest groups that would otherwise deter them from doing what is right for this nation. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
A Prayer For Steadfastness
Father, we desire to be steadfast, immovable always abounding in Your work. There are always things to be done, someone to see, goals to be met, places to be, and on and on the list goes. Then we hit a bump in the road and it seems like all comes crashing down around us and there is nothing we can do – we’re stuck. Yet Your Word tells us to remain steadfast. So even in the bumps of life we can remain steadfast in our Christian witness, prayerful in all matters, faithful in our example to others, and in trusting You to guide us over the bumps so that we are once again on a level plain. Keep us steady we pray, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
A Prayer For Listening To God’s Warnings
Father, we recognize You as our Creator; therefore we do not reject You, but receive Your words of instruction, warning, assurance and affirmation. We not only want to give attention to Your teachings, but we want to observe and obey them as we live out our lives here on earth. Through the grace given to us by Your Spirit, and by the personal resolve we make to obey You even when it is tempting not to do so, we will find spiritual victory and receive Your commendation which is far greater than man’s applause. Amen.
A Prayer Expressing Wonder For Life
Jesus, in Your human birth, You became the very character and expression of God in human form. Miraculously conceived by the Holy Spirit You came as light to the world dispelling the darkness that would otherwise overwhelm us. When we walk with You we no longer walk in darkness but have the light of life. May Your light be reflected through our lives to the darkened world around us. The miracle of Your birth and the wonder of Your life refresh our spirit and renew our resolve to follow You wholeheartedly. It is in Your name that we pray. Amen.
A Pro-Life Prayer
Father, we thank You for the gift of life. We bless the courageous girls and women who, in the most difficult of circumstances, choose to give life over choosing to dispense of their “problem.” We thank You for the vast groups of men and women who lend support to crises pregnancies, to those who take in and raise children who are given up for adoption. We thank You for those who have dedicated their lives to this tremendous cause, keeping it very much alive so that those who view abortion as a viable option since its legalization in 1973, will come to realize that Your Word is the first and final authority on life, not the legislation of our day.
Bless those who speak today, those who march, and those who work among pregnant girls and women who are presently in the very midst of making a life or death decision regarding their unborn child. We also pray for those who made the wrong choice to abort, that they may find Your enduring grace that brings healing and restoration. In many instances, You have used their troubling experience to be an influencing voice for others to make a right choice. We commit the Pro-Life cause to You this day, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
A Prayer For Deep Spiritual Roots
Father, we are so very grateful that our family roots are not the sole source of who we are nor does it dictate what we can accomplish. Our spiritual roots, because of our well-grounded faith in You, goes much deeper and spreads much broader. We are able to accomplish the impossible and overcome life’s difficulties because our roots are connected to the Miracle Worker. May the water of Your Holy Spirit quench our thirst and the spiritual food from Your inspired Holy Word satisfy our hunger causing us to grow in spiritual maturity. We remain safe and secure, firmly rooted in You. Father, though the winds and storms may shake us from time to time, it is in You that we live and move and have our being! Amen.
