For many years you were patient with them. By your Spirit you admonished them through your prophets. Yet they paid no attention, so you handed them over to the neighboring peoples.
A Prayer For Those On A Hard Road
Father, though I am called to go through many hardships, there isn’t one that I face alone. For in my weakness You are made strong, in my folly You are the God of infinite wisdom, and in my fear I take hold of the hope You offer to me which is firm and secure. You will not abandon the work of Your hands but fulfill Your purpose for me as You strengthen, sustain, and instruct me during times of testing. I do not want to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised. Keep me faithful to the end. In Jesus’ mighty name I pray, Amen.
1 Timothy 6:9
People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction.
A Prayer For Staying Spiritually Hydrated
Father, we accept Your invitation to come and drink freely from Your inexhaustible supply of life-giving water, to hydrate ourselves spiritually. May Your springs of living water overflow to those around us as it springs forth in our words, our actions and in our thoughts. We also pray for those who work each day in harm’s way such as the military, the police and other law enforcement individuals. We pray for those whose occupation can be dangerous or hazardous, that they will take every precaution and heed the warnings related to their kind of work. We thank You for the many times we have all been in harm’s way, barely avoiding an accident, because You sent our guardian angel to protect us. You are mindful and protective of our comings and goings and the many times each day that we avoid injury or death. Thank You for redirecting, refreshing, and replinishing our spirit with Your life-giving, eternal water. Amen.
Psalm 119:133
Direct my footsteps according to your word; let no sin rule over me.
A Prayer For Esteeming The Aged
Father, we’re grateful for the teaching and example of those who are older. So much wise advice can be gleaned from the elderly who have experienced the ups and downs of life, the putting into practice of your Scriptural truths, the overcomings and even the failings that teach us what we should avoid and what we need to put into practice. We need each other; the young need to observe the senior’s life’s experiences and endurance. The older need the help of the youth’s strength and vitality. It’s all a part of life’s cycle here on earth. Help us to appreciate, respect and observe each season of life. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Galatians 6:7
Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.
A Prayer For Peace Following Conflict
Father, I desire to be at peace with my own family members, for home is where my heart finds lodging and I like peaceful lodging. I also long to have peace with my brothers and sisters in the faith as well as those I interface with outside Christian circles. I lay my heart bare before You asking You to bring to mind anyone whom I might have offended. Spur me on to mend that difference which starts by humbling myself, seeking out that individual in love, and asking their forgiveness. I can even say “I’m sorry” when I was not in the wrong since those two words of reconciliation can open closed doors for further conversation and also convey my genuine intent to restore our relationship to its former luster. Help me to get beyond just thinking about it and into doing something about it. And for those who are unreceptive give me a peace in my heart that I’ve obeyed You in this command, in as much as it is possible, on my part. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
Matthew 6:6
But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
A Prayer Of Thanks For God’s Word
Father, Your Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. It shows me wrong from right, from sinfulness to forgiveness, from darkness to light and from mortality to immortality. To what other source could I find the answers that give hope, assurance, truth and light. Thank You for the Word of God which is living and active, sharper than any double-edged sword. It penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It judges the thoughts and attitudes of my heart. I do well to read it, pay attention and heed its message. Amen.
